Bar Examination Preparation Course Scholarships:

The OMLA Summer Social and Fundraiser event helps raise the funds to provide racial and ethnic minorities  in Oregon scholarships to pay for courses that prepare them for the Oregon State Bar Exam. Since our first auction in 2000, we have provided over 49 scholarships to minority bar applicants.  This scholarship is currently administered in conjunction with the Oregon State Bar Affirmative Action Program. 

Individuals interested in receiving this scholarship must apply for the OSB AAP Bar Exam Grant for either the winter or summer exam. 


OMLA BAR EXAM PREPARATION SCHOLARSHIP POLICY FOR RACIAL AND ETHINIC MINORITIES
This scholarship is available to any racial and ethnic minority graduating law student/graduate who has registered and is eligible to sit for the Oregon State Bar (OSB).OMLA may award scholarships in the fall and spring of each calendar year to those applicants whose personal experiences, accomplishments, commitment to practice law in Oregon, and financial need demonstrate that they will help the organization achieve its mission.

Each grant includes an OMLA committee-approved bar preparation course focusing on MBE testing. Payment for the course will be issued directly to the course in the recipient’s name. Bar Exam Preparation Scholarship recipients are strongly encouraged to donate the preparation materials to the Affirmative Action Program (AAP) of the Oregon State Bar Exam Library.

Eligibility and Specific Component Criteria
All racial and ethnic minority graduating law students/graduates are eligible and must register with the OSB AAP. Applicants must meet the current eligibility criteria for the OSB AAP Bar Exam Grant.  OMLA reserves the right to require scholarship candidates to meet additional eligibility requirements in conjunction with those required by the OSB AAP.
